Ingredients – yield 2 large pizzas
2 ½ cups warm water
1 tablespoon dry yeast
1/3 cup vegetable oil
1/2 cup of honey
1 tablespoon sugar
1 tablespoon salt
8 cups flour
Put warm water in a mixing bowl, add yeast and sugar. Do not mix. Let it sit until it bubbles.
Add honey, oil, eggs and salt and mix. If using a Mixmaster use the dough attachment.
Add flour and mix with hands until dough forms. If using a Mixmaster with dough hook, keep mixing until dough forms and makes a ball. Cover with a clean towel.
Let rise in warm place for 1 hour. If you have one of our ovens put it on proof mode for 1/2 hour.
Put 2 tablespoons of oil on cookie sheet with sides. Put in 375 degree F oven while it’s preheating. Roll out dough into a rectangle to fit pan.
Place dough on hot oiled cookie sheet. Add pasta sauce or pizza sauce and your favourite toppings. Bake at 375 degrees F until cheese bubbles and browns.
This is like a nice thick Greek style pizza. If you want a thin crust, roll the dough very thinly as it will double in thickness while baking. This versatile dough is also great for buns, cinnamon rolls, or bread.
