Maple Kissed Pretzels

4 teaspoons yeast
1 teaspoon sugar
1 ¼ cup warm water (Kinetico is best)
4 cups flour
½ cup sugar
1 ½ teaspoons salt
1 tablespoon oil
½ cup baking soda
4 cups water
2 tablespoons maple syrup

Put yeast, sugar and warm water in a bowl and let sit until bubbly.
Add flour, sugar, salt, oil and mix in mixer with a dough hook or by hand.
Let rise in a warm place for 1 hour.
Roll into pencil shapes, bows or knots.
Boil water with soda and syrup. Drop pretzels in for 1 minute.

Place on a greased baking sheet and sprinkle with kosher salt, bake at 450 degrees for 10-15 min.

Note: if you’d like them sweet sprinkle with cinnamon sugar instead of salt.
